I am Irish, but I've lived in India for several decades. Like most people who earned a little from writing over the past few years, I was badly hit by the Covid-19 crisis. No, I didn't become ill, thank Heavens. It's just that there are several million more people now online seeking writing work than there were before, which makes competition in my area of work a bit more difficult. And as if that isn't quite enough, Chat GPT has now arrived on the scene to make human writers obsolete. 

Why should anyone hire me to write for them? I'm a published print and online writer. I've written fiction and non-fiction.  I have written over a thousand published pieces. Also, I'm human. For all Chat GPT's wonderful attributes, it still doesn't have a human touch. That's my story and I'm sticking to it, as we say in Ireland.

I currently blog for Recycle Reimagined Recycling Blog. I'm also the editor of English social media content for the Metaphor Lucknow Litfest, the annual literature festival in my current city, Lucknow in north India.

Writing for Work and Pleasure

* Writing is considered by some to be hard work. Most people would rather speak than write. Whether we write by hand or digitally, finding the right words, watching the punctuation and making sure we don't repeat ourselves and sound tedious, is always engaging. There's also the fact that the written word can be misunderstood, so we sometimes need to edit for clarity. Sometimes we write in a good mood. It shows. Sometimes we write in a bad mood. That shows too. Our mood definitely affects our writing, especially when we write for ourselves. When writing for pleasure, we write freely, choosing to focus on subjects we enjoy.
